What activities does Penitentes offer this winter?+
This season Penitentes operates as Penitentes Park, with lifts, a beginners' slope, a sledding run and the scenic chairlift ride. The full run network of the traditional resort is not operating. Check with us which areas are open depending on the day's conditions.

Penitentes Park has a beginners' slope that's ideal for first-timers, with its own lift. The availability of lessons with an instructor may vary by day; ask us before your trip and we'll arrange whatever you need.
Why is it called “Penitentes”?+
The name comes from the rock formations you can see from the resort and from the road: blocks of stone eroded by wind and snow that look like hooded monks in procession. In Andean culture they are associated with religious pilgrimages. They are one of the most distinctive images of Mendoza's high-mountain landscape.
Can I go to Penitentes without skiing?+
Yes, and it's one of the best ways to enjoy it. You can take the scenic chairlift ride to see the valley and the formations from above, go down the sledding run, play in the snow or enjoy the scenery and the food. You don't need to ski to have a great day with the family.
When is the best time to go to Penitentes?+
The winter season runs from June to September. In 2026, Penitentes Park's high season is from July 3 to August 2. The best snow is usually in July and August. Conditions vary from year to year depending on snowfall.
Is there gear rental at Penitentes?+
Keep in mind that the tour already includes your choice of a snowsuit or a ski set. Other extras (snowboard, sleds, helmet) are available on site. We recommend arriving early to get your size.
Is Penitentes safe for beginners?+
Yes. Penitentes Park has a beginners' slope designed for beginners and first-time skiers, with a gentle gradient. It's also ideal for kids and for a relaxed family day in the snow.
How long is the Penitentes Tour?+
The tour lasts about 14 and a half hours. We leave the meeting point at 6:00 am, you have the whole day in the snow, we head back around 4:30 pm and arrive in Mendoza around 8:30 pm.
