Frequently asked questions
About the Los Puquios Tour
How far is Los Puquios from Mendoza?+
Los Puquios is 180 km from Mendoza city, on Route 7 heading toward Cristo Redentor. The trip takes about 3 hours each way, depending on road conditions. It's the closest snow park to the city of Mendoza.
Is Los Puquios good for beginners?+
Yes, it's one of the most recommended places for beginners and for seeing snow for the first time. The slopes are gentle, there's a school with ski and snowboard instructors, and the atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. It's not a resort designed for advanced skiers.
What's the difference between Los Puquios and Penitentes?+
Los Puquios is the closest (180 km) and the simplest: ideal for learning to ski with affordable lessons and for a relaxed day in the snow. Penitentes (Penitentes Park this season, 200 km) has more variety: a beginners' slope, a sledding run, a scenic chairlift ride and lifts. For a simple first time close by, Puquios; for more activities and scenery, Penitentes.
How much does it cost to get into Los Puquios?+
Park entry is paid directly on arrival. In the 2026 season it's around ARS 70,000 for adults in high season and ARS 50,000 in low season. It includes access to the snow area. Extra rentals and lessons with an instructor are paid separately.
Is there ski and snowboard rental at Los Puquios?+
Yes. Keep in mind that the tour already includes your choice of a snowsuit or a ski set. Other extras (snowboard, sleds, helmet, snow clothing) can be rented at the shops at the base. We recommend arriving early to get your size, especially on weekends.
Is the Los Puquios Tour suitable for young children?+
Yes, it's the most recommended snow tour for families with young children. The distance is manageable (3 hours each way) and the park has a safe snow play area for the little ones. There's a kids' ski school with specialized instructors from age 4.
When does Los Puquios open?+
The Los Puquios season usually opens in late June or early July, depending on snow conditions. It usually closes in early September. The best snow is generally in July and August. Check the exact dates for your trip with us.
What happens if there's no snow when we go?+
We only confirm departures when the park is officially operating. If conditions deteriorate or the road is closed for safety, we reschedule the tour at no cost or refund your payment. We let you know in advance, the night before, if the weather is uncertain.
Do I need snow chains to get to Los Puquios?+
Since you're going with us, you don't need to worry about that. Our vehicles carry the necessary equipment (chains or suitable traction depending on conditions), and our drivers know Route 7 in winter inside out. This is one of the big advantages of doing the tour with a local operator.
How long is the Los Puquios Tour?+
The tour lasts about 14 and a half hours. We leave the meeting point at 6:00 am, you have the whole day in the snow, we head back around 4:30 pm and arrive in Mendoza around 8:30 pm.
