You ride out as the sun begins to drop, reach the lookout just in time to watch it sink behind the Andes, and return to the estancia with the first stars, where an asado (Argentine barbecue) by the campfire is waiting. The most romantic horseback ride in Mendoza.
A welcome drink, two hours on horseback in the sunset light, an asado under the stars with wine and dessert, and lingering by the fire afterwards. Some nights, with a guitar.

Frequently asked questions
About the Sunset Horseback Ride
What time does the Sunset Horseback Ride start?+
The time varies through the year because it depends on when the sun sets. In summer we leave around 5:00 pm and watch the sunset at about 8:30 pm. In winter we leave at 2:30 pm and watch the sunset at about 6:00 pm. We'll confirm the exact time for your date when you book.
Is the Sunset Horseback Ride Tour romantic?+
Yes, it's the most romantic experience we offer. Riding in the golden hour, the sunset from the lookout, the asado under the stars by the campfire… it's ideal for couples, anniversaries, marriage proposals or any special occasion. If you'd like something personalized (a private table, flowers, etc.), let us know when you book.
Does it get cold on the ride at dusk?+
In Mendoza the temperature drops considerably at dusk, even in summer, because of the wide temperature swings of the Andean desert. We always recommend packing a jacket or warm layer in your bag, even if the day is hot. In winter you'll need serious warm clothing. The asado campfire warms things up.
What's served at the evening asado?+
The evening asado includes premium cuts (flank, tenderloin, ribs), offal (sweetbreads, optional chitterlings), chorizo sausage, salads, homemade bread, a traditional dessert (flan, or dulce de leche with cheese) and Mendoza red wine. Dinner is served next to the campfire, at a long shared table or individual tables as you prefer.
Can I propose at sunset?+
Yes, we can arrange a private moment at the sunset lookout for a proposal. Just let us know when you book so we can prepare everything discreetly. We can add touches like a bouquet of flowers, champagne at the lookout, or a photographer if you want the moment captured. It's something we do often.
Do I need horseback riding experience?+
No, the horses are gentle and there's basic instruction before setting off. The ride is at a calm pace. However, since it's a sunset ride and the light can be low toward the end, we recommend it more for people who have ridden at least once before or are sure they want to try.
What time does the tour end?+
The tour ends between 10:00 and 11:00 pm in summer, and between 9:00 and 10:00 pm in winter. We drop you off at your hotel in Mendoza. Since it's a long night, we recommend resting the next day or planning a relaxed tour for the following morning.
Is it suitable for children?+
We recommend it from age 12. Because of the timing (returning at night) and because the experience is designed more for adults, it isn't ideal for young children. If you want to bring younger kids, we recommend the Criollo Horseback Ride or the Horseback Ride with Lunch, which run during the day.
When is the best time of year for the Sunset Horseback Ride?+
Summer (December-March) has the most colorful sunsets thanks to the clouds over the Andes. Autumn (March-May) has clearer skies and cleaner sunsets. Spring (September-November) has ideal weather. It runs in winter too, but it gets quite cold after dark. Every season is beautiful; the atmosphere is what changes.
How long is the Sunset Horseback Ride Tour?+
The full tour lasts between 6 and 7 hours, depending on the season. It includes round-trip transfer, a 2-hour horseback ride, sunset at the lookout and dinner at the estate. It's an immersive experience, never rushed.
